Feb 24th double-duty show review!

Feb 24th was a busy day. After drinking quite a bit (It was Paczi day. I was drunk then sober about 3 different times over the course of the day) I went to the Lager House to check out my friends' surf rock band. They were opening for
Genders who were releasing their giant 13 cd collection of crazy on their own label Holographic Resonance. Didn't stay for any of that, but the surf rock was good. Total Ventures style, no vocals, happy surf stuff that totally put me in a good mood. When they decide on a name and get a demo recorded I'll post about it. I left to go to the Shitfucker record release show at the Old Miami. I'll review their 7" ep on here a little later. I got there in time to see Jason from Pub Life's new band Final Assault finish up their set. It wasn't too bad, I think I liked it better than any of his previous bands, which I always felt dragged on with their sets. Shitfucker went on next. Their singer/bassist Dick came out in a home-made leather mask with studs on it, panties and fishnets, and a bra. Their set was a total storm of feedback, reverb and blasting drums. The reverb was up so high on the vocals every grunt and howl echoed on for like 20 minutes. It was totally brutal, and everyone who's brain is damaged enough to be into the most extreme styles of Metal, thrash, grind or black metal would do well to check out a set from these satanic crusters. Pirate Law closed the night. I heard they have a 7" recorded, but not out, which is a shame. Pirate Law is probably one of the best fast punk bands of any sub-genre to regularly play shows in detroit. The fast parts are fast and brutal, with some catchy riffs as well. It was a bit sloppy and drunk that night, with members offering that they're "never supposed to be last in the line-up" for that very reason.
